ABSTRACT: This study explores innovations in assessing career progression in vocational fields, aiming to identify effective methods and metrics for evaluating professional development and advancement among vocational graduates. The objectives were to (1) analyze current practices and challenges in assessing career progression in vocational education, (2) explore innovative assessment tools and techniques used in vocational settings, and (3) propose strategies to enhance the assessment of career progression in vocational fields. A survey research design was chosen to gather insights from vocational educators, career counselors, and industry professionals, examining their perspectives on assessing career development outcomes. The sample size comprised 200 participants, selected through purposive sampling to ensure representation from vocational institutions and industry sectors across Nigeria. The case study focused on Oyo State, recognized for its progressive vocational training initiatives and employment support services. Findings indicated a need for comprehensive career assessment frameworks that encompassed skills acquisition, job placement, and career advancement. Innovations included competency-based assessments, career portfolios, and alumni tracking systems. Recommendations included integrating career assessment into vocational curricula, fostering partnerships with employers for feedback on graduate performance, and providing continuous professional development for career counselors to enhance guidance services.
